Music at the South Yarmouth United Methodist Church “Music touches feeling that words can not.  It’s the melody of the heart and the voice of the spirit.”

Chancel Choir The Adult Choir is an SATB (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Baritone/Bass) choir consisting of men and women from the congregation who enjoy sharing their voices in the weekly worship services from September through June. They rehearse on Thursday evenings from 7 - 8:30 PM and rotate singing at either the 9 AM or 10:30 AM services weekly. New members are welcome throughout the year and encouraged to come join at any time.

Angel Choir The Youth Choir is a group of children, ages 5 and above who practice on Thursday evenings from 6 - 6:45 PM and sing at least once a month in the worship services. They meet from September through June and perform a variety of music including instrumentals and dance. They just received new choir robes and folders this year and are excited about learning good vocal technique and sharing their ideas concerning the presentation of their music.  Come join the fun!

Bell Choir This is an intergenerational group of youth, men, and women who are learning to ring Old English handbells and handchimes.  We have a 3-octave set of handbells as well as a 3-octave set of handchimes.  This group meets on Monday evenings, 6 - 7:30 PM September through June, and performs a wide variety of music throughout the year in worship. All ages are encouraged to join this group.  They are lovingly known as “The Ding-a-Lings.”

Special Music Members as well as visitors are encouraged to share their special and unique talents during our worship services. Special music is performed during the Offertory and appreciated by all.  A Summer Choir sings during the summer months, July and August, and all are welcome to join this exciting group of singers who present more contemporary and spiritual music.

Special Programming The choirs present special music programs consisting of cantatas, musicals, and seasonal music at Christmas, Lent, and Music Sunday in June.   There is also a yearly Talent Show combined with a dinner to celebrate the talents of church members and friends.   The choirs are directed by Norma Atwood and accompanied by Paul Honigsblum.
